Play Dates

Summer is finally here and we are loving it!  The last couple of days have been really fun because we've had a couple of play dates with our next door neighbor and her little girl.  We decided to go for a walk on Monday, and of course for the 30 minutes we were outside it was pouring rain.  By the time we got back home the sun was out and it was nice and warm.  Only in Utah, right?  Anyway, so we just let the girls play in my front yard.  Like I've said earlier, one of Macie's favorite things to do out front is play on the porch/stairs.  So she introduced Liv to the fun!  For the most part these little girls play so cute together. Then there are the times when Macie decides it'll be awesome to see how hard she can pinch or scratch Liv before she starts crying.  Let's just say we have really been working on "being soft."  She is learning :)

(I have lots of cute pictures of the girls together, but Liv's mom blogs privately, so I didn't want to be plastering her face all over without her permission.)

Then on Tuesday I was super bored and really wanted to get out of the house.  So they joined us for some fun at the park.  Both of the girls had a lot of fun on the slides, but they mostly just wanted to play in the dirt.  Liv's activity of choice was picking up handfuls of the dirt and woods chips and throwing them up in the air.  Macie just sat on the ground and put handfuls of dirt on her leg.  Is it kind of gross that my daughter likes to bathe herself in dirt?  Yeah, a little, but she had so much fun!  I can deal with some dirt if she is having fun.  Nothing a good bath can't fix :)

Macie is starting to stand a little more on her own.   And when I say "a little" I really mean it.  I think I had about 2 seconds to snap this picture before she plopped back down.  You can see that she's even on her way down.....

 I love black and white

We never made it over the to swings, but Macie loves them.  She loves going high, too!  I absolutely love the stage she is at.  Her personality is so fun and I love seeing her become her own little person.
And the best thing happened yesterday!  Macie started saying "mommy!"  I keep working with her to know that it's associated with me.  It is so cute when she says it.  Totally melted my heart :)

On a totally different topic,  ever since Macie turned one and I have been introducing more solid foods she doesn't seem to have much of an appetite.  I know she has lost a few pounds because she simply refuses to eat anything other than crackers and sweet things.  I have been a little bit worried about it, but just knew that she wasn't going to completely starve herself.  I've still been offering her different foods hoping she'll eat them.
Then last week she came down with something and had a fever for three days.  The poor little girl was miserable and I felt so bad for her.  This was the first time she had ever had a fever.  It took her a few days after her fever went away before she was back to her normal, happy self.  But I have noticed the last few days that her appetite is back and is better than before!  I better not be jinxing myself by saying this, but the child is actually eating better now!  I am heaving a big sigh of relief and hoping that is keeps up!

It WAS a fun couple of play dates. Thanks for putting up with us. I think Liv still has dirt in her hair from the park! Macie is so great to put up with Liv's antics. You wouldn't think that a couple of cute little girls would have a hard time playing "soft" with one another. Oh well there is always next play date!

Oh and PS I don't mind posting pictures of Liv (my family all does on their blogs). But that was super considerate of you!
