Nothing New

Well, I haven't posted for a while, and that's because we haven't done anything new.  I wish I could say we did something fun over Memorial Day, but the only exciting thing that happened was not having to wake up and go to work/school on Monday.  It was nice to just relax, but we literally did nothing.  It was one of those times where you get so bored that you drive around and end up at a store and buy things you don't need just for something to do.  Oh!  I lied!  We did go see the new Indiana Jones movie.  I liked it, but the ending was weird.  But that is the only thing we did.  We did have some stuff going on yesterday so that was fun.  We had our two scouts over in the morning to go over their swimming requirements.  Here's some pictures of that....not too exciting, but i put them on here for the sake of posting with pictures.  (I know some people don't like posts without pics.)
This is them practicing how to rescue someone who is drowning  using a rope.  You're supposed to do this one 30 feet off a shore, but we had to improvise seeing as how the apartment swimming pool isn't a lake.
Rock Band.  Boys.  Availability.  Need I say more?  It seems like whenever we have our scouts/primary kids over all we ever do is play video games.  We also played some Mariokart on the Wii.  That game is really fun and Dallas and I thought we were pretty good at it.  Little did we know that all these boys do when they are at home is play Mariokart.  They kicked our trash!!  I really hope that my kids don't become video game junkies, but with a father like Dallas I can't make any guarantees.  :)
This has been the excitement of our lives for the past week.  For some reason we are on this puzzle kick.  This one took us forever!  Not a good idea to pick one with so much open space with little detail.  Needless to say, as soon as we finished it we went out and got another one.  It's one of those "Can you find it" kind of things.  LOTS of detail and much more fun.
Yesterday after our scout activity we went to the baptism of a boy in our ward.  Dallas and I have become pretty close with this family.  They are a little older than us with two kids, but we instantly bonded with them.  The mom is super sweet and she and I are good pals, and the Dad is a Doctor, so of course he and Dallas are always talking.  Their boy is eight and the oldest and just idolizes Dallas.  Last year at the Derby races he and his dad were picking Dal's brain on how to build the "perfect" car.  You can just tell they are buds.  They also have a daughter who's a couple years younger.  We became friends last year on the Scout hike when I let her have some of my sunflower seeds.  Let's just say we've been great little friends since.  Anyway, these are some of the people we will miss most from our ward.  I still can't believe that the move home is less than three months away.  Where does the time go?  I was talking to my sister tonight about leaving Cali, and I told her I never thought it would be this hard.  I never intended to connect with California the way I have.  I just figured I'd put in my time and move home to Utah.  End of story.  But it's completely different.  It's going to be weird knowing that we aren't coming back here (except for visits of course).  I never thought that Dallas would ever finish school and we would be moving on to the next phase of our lives.  I can't believe he will be graduating, and he'll be a Doctor...weird....and then we'll start having kids......even more weird!.....and buy a house....crazy....It always just seemed like things like this were things that grown ups did, and I never actually thought that one day I would be that grown up that it was happening to.  I'm really excited to start this next journey and I am so grateful that I have a husband like Dallas to share it with!  He makes me the happiest girl on earth!
