I know, I know! It's been an eternity since I last blogged. I'm lame and have been lazy and very busy. Just get over it :) I'm not going to try to catch up on everything we've been doing because I'm certain that you would all die of boredom reading about it. So you'll get the highlights. I think one of the most exciting things that have happened in the last 6 months is we purchased a house!! We love being homeowners! It took us a while to get used to the fact that we now have a yard to take care of and we can't just call our landlord when things need to be fixed. It's so fun having a place of our own!! It's very simple, and not too fancy, but it has everything we need, and then some. It's got 5 bedrooms, and 3 1/2 baths and a huge yard! I love it.
We started moving in on a Friday night. Well, actually we spent that night cleaning the carpets and moving in a few things. The majority of the moving was done the next day, Saturday. Friday night after we finished cleaning the carpets Dallas was pretty adamant about spending our first night in our new home and not back at our apartment. However, all the carpets were soaking wet and we couldn't move our bed in to sleep. So we just brought in the mattress and spent our first night on the kitchen floor. It was a fun adventure, and pretty comfortable too!
Since we've moved in we have had so much fun in our own place. One thing about moving from a 2 bedroom apartment to a 5 bedroom house means that there are a lot of rooms that don't have anything in them! Which is fine with us, because that means there is more space to play in :) This was one of our favorite activities. It totally reminded me of being a kid!
We were very lucky to buy our house from people who took really good care of the place. They were very clean (thank goodness) and put a lot of little extras into the home that make it that much better. The yard is amazing and an awesome size. It's completely landscaped and totally fenced in with nice vinyl fencing. The husband built a really nice shed out in the back yard and there is a huge vegetable garden out there as well. Like I said earlier, it took me a long time to get used to doing yard work every weekend. I was very grateful when winter came and I got a break. I am excited for spring when it will be time to plant new flowers and vegetables.
There have been a couple of things that have not been so much fun with the home since we bought it. The first was the lovely explosion from the Silver Eagle Refinery which happens to be located less than 1/2 mile behind our house. The explosion happened while we were at work, and I thought for sure I was going to come home at lunch to find it just demolished, since a lot of surrounding homes were on the news for damaged garage doors, blown out windows, and get this, even being condemned because the blast blew the house off it's foundation. Luckily most of the homes that were affected were located east of the refinery and we are west of it. So far, we haven't had any problems from it. Phew!
The other fun thing that happened was our pipes froze before Christmas when the temperature dropped way below freezing at night. Luckily we caught it in time and didn't have any damage from it. But now I know for next year what to do.
It's taken us a long time to finally get everything unpacked and start to decorate. But our little house it becoming more and more homey everyday and we love coming home to our own place!

Your house is so so so cute! I want to come and see it. It seems like such a far away dream for me, but you two have given me some hope! I love the love sac soaring idea, maybe one day when I have a set of stairs I'll have to try that!!
